Compassion for his clients fuels John Smithee’s litigation practice. The satisfaction of righting a wrong keeps him focused on vigorously defending his clients.
John focuses his practice on a wide range of civil, commercial, and construction litigation, including contract disputes, fraud claims, partnership disputes, deceptive trade practice claims, construction disputes, and general civil litigation. His clients range from homeowners, contractors, and lenders, to national multi-million-dollar companies. John knows litigation is a daunting and stressful process, so he works with his clients to ease their burden and find the best possible outcome.
Before joining Underwood, John gained invaluable experience in the legislative and judicial branches of government, which he now uses to benefit his clients navigating the complicated court systems. He served as a law clerk for United States Senator John Cornyn on the Senate Judiciary Committee and as a judicial extern for United States District Judge Richard Schell.
